Allow me to introduce myself ...

Welcome Home! My name is Tevin aka GullahGritstv and I am super thrilled that you are here and if you're reading this I'm excited to call you family. Thanks for being here and getting to know me just a little bit better. I am an initiated spiritual practitioner of the 21 Divisiones; a spiritual practice based in the Dominican Republic, motivational speaker, content creator and a proud pet parent. But I know, I know, you came for the juicy deets of my life. Well for that my friend, we will have to go way back to where it all began...

How it all started ...

I was born in a rural town in southern Georgia, the youngest of four siblings. You can only imagine what that was like. I basically had 5 parents. Coming from a very Pentecostal background in the south you already know my moral compass was set beautifully. My family was not perfect by any means, but we were raised that love was the foundation of family. We seemed weird to outsiders with how affectionate we were; and still are to this day with each other. 'Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're family is amazing and what not, but when do we get to the cool spiritual stuff?' Well my Darling, in order for you to know where I'm going, you must know where I've been...

Not all who wander are lost...

At age of 22 I swore into the military to protect and defend my country. I remember being so nervous when I arrived a bootcamp. Getting yelled at and the amount of push ups we did in the middle of a blizzard in Chicago, was definitely not for the weak. Yet, I was determined to prove to myself that I could and I did! My first duty station was sunny San Diego, California. It was my first time being that far from home, little did I know it would spark the travel bug, and the unquenchable thirst for expansive knowledge in my little Sagittarius heart and change the course of my life forever...

The use of my voice...

After leaving the military, ptsd 'fresh out the box' I became homeless. I struggled with my mental health, it was hard to find the light at the end of the tunnel when you're in rock bottoms basement. But always in the back of my mind I somehow knew everything was going to be ok. Never losing that faith, mustering the last bit of money and courage I had, I booked a flight to Nicaragua in Central America a place I had never known. This is where my love for travel and content creation began. I wanted to document everything as like a video diary, so I created my social media accounts on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. Thus GullahGritsTV was born! I am grateful to say that since that journey I have reached over 300k followers across the previously mentioned platforms. A lovely woman left a comment on one of my videos once and it read "Your voice is your gift. Now how are you gonna use it?" This single comment awoke something in me. It shook something to my core and with the debris of my past clear. I could finally hear my true calling...

7 is my lucky number...

My nomadic lifestyle continued for a couple more years, gathering passport stamps and life lessons of the world no one could ever teach. I settled in the beautiful island of the Dominican Republic. By this time I was high vibes and clear skies in my mind. I felt more connected than ever to the natural world and my intuition was at an all time high. I could not understand why I felt drawn to the places I was going but I knew how to get there and when I got there, I knew how to be where I'm at. LOL! Which lead me to the doorstep of a new friend soon to be a mentor that would challenge my entire reality. A year after meeting my Godfather, I was officially initiated 7 years to the day I swore into the military. The universe has an interesting way of letting you know you're on the right path. And that's just it, to initiate means to begin. I started with the basics on respect for the spiritual world, for nature and most importantly respect for myself. The more I learned the more questions I had until my Godfather spoke these words "Mijo, ask for what you can handle" I never knew the weight of those words until now...

The universe in my garage...

As my time in Dominican Republic under the guidance and safety of my Godfather drew to a close. I knew it was time to spread my wings and fly. Moving back to the United States to pursue the uncharted waters of spiritual entrepreneurship, it was definitely an adjustment after years of being gone. My heart was full and my desire to inspire was in full effect and so was my imposter syndrome. I opened my journal, took a trip down memory lane and took a good look in the mirror. Mercy was what I saw and grace was what I heard. I had a story to tell and lives to change, all I had to do was give myself permission to be great. I set up my alter in my garage of my country home I was renting at the time. My favorite was the swamp in the backyard. Seeing my alter and knowing the significance of every single detail within in it made me see that the beauty of life is all around us and it has a name and its respected place, even if for now it was just in my garage. A garage where Mirror Mercy LLC was created, thousands inspired by my words spoken and the workings done in that place made sacred. It is my pleasure to invite you to my world, to my heart and to my home. Welcome Home!
